It’s true that they’re not making any more land, but does that really make it a good investment?

You will hear arguments on both sides, and in the end you will simply make your own decision about how much and what kind of land you want to own.

Are You Ready to Buy Land?

Are you looking for some remote acreage for weekend getaways? Maybe you want a location for your retirement home. Or, could be you want a parcel close enough to the city so you can attend some events but still live in a quiet, peaceful area.

The question is, in addition to meeting those needs, how does a parcel of land shape up as an investment?

Is Land a Good Investment?

To help answer that question, remember you will be paying county taxes annually, semi-annually, or quarterly. Don’t worry, the county won’t let you forget. And, if you don’t keep those taxes paid, they will see to it that someone else gets your land eventually.

Land, as an investment, has several positive points going for it. As our friend says, “no tenants, no toilets, and no termites”.

Is now the right time to buy land?

A parcel of land is probably not generating any rental income like residential or commercial property. There are exceptions, of course, such as farm land and other ways you can rent land. We know one family that rents out their parcel for a pumpkin patch at Halloween, and a Christmas tree sales lot in December.

All things considered, you will most likely purchase land for the same reason you purchase a home. It helps you fulfill a dream.
